Dudley Park

Dudley Park is a small, but beautiful park in the middle of Athens, Georgia. It is just a short walk from the University of Georgia and downtown Athens, and it is maintained by Leisure Services’ Trails and Open Spaces department.

The park has beautiful hardwoods, open fields, and picnic areas. The North Oconee Greenway and the Firefly Trail connect at Dudley Park, which is ideal for all non-motorized activities such as walking, running, or cycling.

Dudley Park, dedicated in 1953 in honor of Athens’ Alonzo Gordon Dudley, who ruled the city from 1926 to 1935 and again from 1938 to 1939, is a beautiful mixed forest with towering hardwoods, open spaces, several picnic areas, and connections to numerous pathways.

Trails

Following this short stretch of the Red and Black Railroad, you’ll come upon Dudley Park, which serves as the junction of two major multi-use paved pathways: the North Oconee Greenway and the Firefly Trail.

Picnic Areas

The park is dotted with a variety of picnic tables, allowing for leisure time with family and friends. The picnic area beside the Poplar Street Parking Lot also has grills.

Fishing

At Dudley Park, fishing is permissible using Georgia-legal equipment and a Georgia Department of Natural Resources fishing license as long as persons are in compliance with these rules.

If you’re looking for a place to get away from it all, Dudley Park is definitely worth a visit! Dudley Park is a great place to relax and experience all that Georgia has to offer!
