The Georgia Museum of Art is the perfect place to explore the world of contemporary art. This museum, which is located in Athens, Georgia, has been open for 50 years and houses more than 12,000 pieces of art from all over the world. ART
When you visit the Georgia Museum of Art, you’ll be able to explore a variety of different exhibits showcasing contemporary art from all over the world. With such a diverse selection of art on display, there’s something for everyone at this museum. If you’re interested in visual arts, you can check out the many paintings, sculptures, and other pieces on display. Or, if you’re more interested in performing arts, you can attend one of the many concerts or other events that are held at the museum.
VISIT
Our hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.. We also close on occasion for federal holidays such as Memorial Day and Labor Day (May 31st). Admission is free, although they gladly accept donations.
You can bring food and drink into the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, but keep in mind that they are not allowed in most areas on the museum’s ground floor, including the Jane and Harry Willson Sculpture Garden. They are prohibited on the second level (where most of the art is) or in M. Smith Griffith Auditor.
